It lived up to its name alright. Karl and Mike found out it was 2wd after getting to Katemy thanks to a snapped stubshaft and a freeze plug in the spindle covering the damage. Then with the 2wd action the rear pinion sheared off. Jimmy will have to tell about his attempt at a trail fix using a crescent wrench.

Well for the first time in many years, 8runner actually drove itself off a trailer back in CS. Not that I didn't have my issues, but they were relatively minor. I actually spent more on gas going back and forth to 2 different na[a's a dozen or so times than I did on the parts I bought. Friday I dropped into a hole and landed on a spring shackle. No direct damage, but my motor slid forward on the mounts and did damage to the power steering pulley. After some amazing work by Kopecki and his big tool, an assload of belts, and a few washers from Kruse's shop to replace my motor mount bushing, I had a succesfult afternoon on saturday and morning on Sunday. I think this is more wheeling than my truck has seen on the last 3 trips (Katemcy, CO, and Clayton)! Can you tell I am proud that my crap finally works!
    Thanks,

i also destroyed a rear u-joint as I found today when I was crawling underneath the Jeep trying to figure out why it was shaking so bad when I accelerated. I checked the front alignament again today and it was close enough for government work, and replaced the u-joint so know I am good to go

I don't think firestone changed the tape measure job we did on mine much, if any.

Looks like ya'll had a good time. I wish I could have brought the piece out there.

My rear bumpstops are pissed, and my clutch has 10,000 miles less on it.
The trail Klogger snapped the rear pinion shaft while trying to get through a hole so he could jump this little burm to get some sweet pics of air. I had the bright idea of putting a wrench in the left axle so that it would not turn and the right one would. One wheel drive, well this was almost a good idea. It snapped a 3/8 extension like a twig, so we put a 3/4" or so shackle pin in there via hammer. This would have worked, but we didn't think about turning so it didn't work. We did try a crescent wrench as well before conceding. We got towed back by "Baby Huey" under the conditions laid down by the wife that if we hit the custom painted tailgate she would "kill us." (I don't think it was a joke) The custom conversion wheels worked like a champ, it was the greatest idea ever...

I doubt she was, she does all the body work on that rig. He was telling us how she just got done reglassing the hood. Shes a trooper

Thanks for the spare pipe. Sleeved right over it and had the Kruse shop weld it up for me.

I think I was the last one out of camp on Sunday, but finally got home.
