ford was prett finicky about the placement of the speedo scensor....some years it was in the rear end others it was in the transmission/transfercase, and still other years it was in both....

man this is turning out to be a monumental pain in my ass... i'm gonna look for an exploder 8.8 to trade for the 9" and if i CAN make that happen it'll be dana 30 all the way.
I dont know about a trade but you can get an 8.8 complete with disc brakes in Houston for $200

pick-a-part in Houston has axles out hte wazoo
if you want something local, get with Flem for a j-yard day and go to the pick-n-pull...I think they had a few exploders when he and I went out there and it will probably only be between 100-200 bucks
A-Avantage is the name of the Yard in Houston, and I think the width is 59 1/2 face to face. Mine came off of an 98 EXPLODER.
