I own the VW stuff so it is easy and you just buy a chip and slap it in, not sure about the tuneablity. I am trying to keep it under the radar, which I think megasquirt would send off kaxons. what I am builfding motor wise is pretty standard, so I don't need a ton of tunablity. waste of money. if you are going to put a mail order chip I wouldn't bother swapping to efi anyway.

no need, the motor is a pretty standard combo, the chip is already set for it.
