The carnage campsite would be great because you can be on asphalt in just a couple of minutes, you could drive a non legal rig with out much worry to the gas station/truckstop, and there are two restaruants right there also. Not to mention not having to drive 'through' town to every trail. I believe you are right that a good week long trip would let us hit some new trails and also run the others we ran again.

A week long would be best. I hate feeling rushed when on vacation.

Pagosa/Durango area does not have many "hardcore" trails, but the scenery down there is great. ALot of fun in that area for a stock 4wd.

The guys who are planning the marlin crawler colorado something or other think this campsite will hold 50-60 rigs

"National Forest area of Fourmile, just east of Buena Vista

Right at the intersection of 315 & 376. There's a small bicycle logo on the map in that area, that's basically where we set up camp. I'd suggest that anyone trailering their rigs take 305 and head down 376 to the campsite. I made it last year on 315 with a trailer but 305 is much better!!"

It's waaaay closer to the Carnage area as well...at least on the right side of town.

I am going to try and make it as well. Prolly roll in Fri night. We camped up 4 mile, had 18 rigs, perfect spot..We ran carnage canyon about 2weeks ago, and ironchest?. Hopefully my yota will be up and running by then..its been down in TX for 2 years, my buddies hauled it up for me, and I have been hitting it hard the last week or so to get it trail worthy. Still need some tires - 36" - 38" size if you have any leads.

I think moab was around 24 hrs of driving when we went there last time. It seemed like we would never get there.

For the record, Moab is about 5 hours from Buena Vista (Almost completely down hill). So really, what is another 5 hours?
