Future Plans:
1. Need to do something about my front driveshaft asap. Still not sure my exact plan, but will probably make a decision within the next week.
2. Buy a winch to fill the big gaping hole in my bumper
3. Regear to 4.88s or 5.13s and some sort of rear locker when I do. Not set on which route to take on the locker. Any thoughts on the best route?
4. Need to decide on a rear setup. FabFours or Lod would be my ideal choice on a bumper/carrier, but dont really want to drop a g on a bumper setup. Most of the bumper choices are the same way though so debating just running no spare and some kind of simple bumper
5. Need to do some adj control arms to get it all setup better

for your pic of "almost rolled it" if you picked a better line that wouldnt have been an issue

and for your future plans, if you have some time and know/want to learn how to weld then build a bumper, it will be cheaper and you can say you built it

yeah I know, my driver rear slipped all the way down that back ledge and I ended up in a bad spot pretty quick. Lift and flex would of made it a lot better. The whole trip out that day just really motivated me to go ahead order the parts.

Ive thought a lot about building a bumper. Kinda of want to run something like this on the rear and just build a simple bumper that goes corner to corner.

I like the rig, it is a great example of a dailey driver that you can still wheel the piss out of! You coming to Clayton? Missed you in Alto.

Yeah, just need to get cleared to go by work. Really wanting to go to gilmer also but the 12th is also my 21st so im debating it

On the gears lower is better, you've got overdrive so I'd think 5.13 would be good. Detroit locker is the way to go, strong and reliable.

Fab Fours is owned by a former TAMOR member, and the bumpers are all designed by another former member. I imagine you drive this to the trails so a spare is always good to have, especially with normal tires.

Its a manual so thats why im considering the 4.88's, but way down the road wanting to run 37's so figure I might as well go ahead an go 5.13's. Zach runs the 5.13s in his auto and tells me its the way to go. What are the pros/cons to dd an auto locker in the rear?

I was just planning on running the spare inside instead of a carrier

2. My Smitty has worked well for me, but it is really up to you and your budget.

3. I think you would be good with 4.88s but if you are really thinking 37's then you definitely want 5.13s. However, that opens up a whole nother can o worms (theoretically speaking).

4. I will recommend my Rancho rear as it was only $400 but if you are bad ass enough to build your own then more power to ya :gigem:

if you want to go to 37's are you going to keep that front 30 or swap in something beefy. if you want to lock the front you have already pushed the limits of a d30 without throwing a bunch of money at it then it is still a d30.....

I don't think JK 30s are the same thing as a CJ 30.

they have the larger 297 u joint and d30 ring and pinion. similar strength axles iirc. The outers are the same as the jk d44 bj's out. an upgrade from cj series but not strong enough for 37's and he will prob want a locker
a rubi d44 would hold up with a tube sleeve and inner c braces

well they have 33 and 35 spline dana 44 shafts from the factory these days and I didn't think 297s were used anymore.

If and when I decided to go to 37's id be swapping in something different. Thats why itll be down the road, but Im thinking I can always add things to prepare for that point if it ever happens. I know im pushing the d30 as it is, but Im probably going to leave it open and wheel what I can without pushing it too far. I have the c gussets which seem to be the main point the 35's **** up on these 30's.

Any opinions on these or any other choices? 1310 strong enough or should I be lookin at 1350's?
Guess I would need to go ahead and do the front lower adj control arms while Im at it.

1310 is plenty strong. I ran them with 40s and twisted the slip part of the driveshaft off, and broke a few d60 rear shafts, and a couple front ones, and only once did I break a 1310 joint. I still think leaf springs are the main reason people break driveshaft joints.

also talk with jess at high angle driveline, if i recall he is normally on par with tom woods prices

Congrats on the winch noah! I got mine coming to my house right now.

My little sister has one of these in a rubicon on 35s. I think those have 4.10 gears from the factory. If so it is not close to enough. Running with OD off seems OK. I figure that's the equivalent to about 5.5 gears in OD. So 5.13 gears would definitely not be too low. That little motor got no guts.

At this point id kill for 4.10s.... 3.21s with 35s is wearin on me, settin aside the funds for 5.13s hopefully this semester

We debated a long time on the hitch but for the moment probably plan to just shorten in down and it's not terribly low. Not enough to be an anchor anyways. We will see
