I would unweld the rearend, that screams ghetto off-road rig to potential buyer.
I thought the same thing, but figured there was no point to sayin anything...
it wouldn't be too hard you would just have to find some new spiders for the rear and and pull the welded ones out
i may have some control arms but if brett can get them to you then that would work, if the yoke is the same as cj 30's then i have a dozen and you can have one
thanks guys. for the rear end I will probably swap out the carrier and spiders for open ones.
Brett let me know about the control arms. How much for a set?
well the jeep got mostly put back together the other day. I spent the extra time to clean everything really well and hit it with some paint. still need to hook brakes back up and driveshafts and repair oil pan. still need to swap out the welded rear too(if I end up doing that) and get new yoke and front driveshaft. I think I am going to warrenty out the two front tires too... they got pretty eaten up when the control arms gave out
My jeep may be up for sale at the end of the year or first of next year. Will make you a good deal on it.
drove it yesterday for the first time since clayton... things left to do before I sell it
-Exaust hangers (clunks around from kissing rocks)
-Oil pan (I patched it but it still leaks a little)
-Front Yoke and Driveshaft (still need to get them)
-Trade out a tire or two at discount
-Replace plastic in new to me window (thanks Burris)
-Detail it (very dirty)
I drilled out the yoke and canadian rigged it... it is 4wd again... I wouldn't wheel it this way though... bet it wouldnt last long... I really need to hit the yards
did you drill it out and put ubolts on instead of straps? if so I bet it would last pretty long as long as the nipples are still there on the side
no i drilled it enough to reverse the broken bolts out... only half the threads left
shouldn't be too bad, no easy out? I used to use them and the bolts would come out pretty easy
used easy out... had to use drill bit with it... the cutting part wasnt making any progress
