Cool rig. Hope to see it out on the trail
So Next I noticed the steering wheel felt like it was about to fall off, shaking around and very loose, did some research and noticed it is a common problem with these year model jeeps. I had to tear everything apart and tighten up four screws that had backed out around the ball joint? of the tilt wheel assembly. This took some time and a few time of putting it back together and taking it back apart to get right. Finally got it all back together and everything works great but now a month or so after the horn is intermittent and I have the key get suck in the on position twice randomly. Haven't had time to check it out yet though.

These are all the pictures I have, I forgot to take some of the actual Business area where the problem was. But all I can say is I don't want to have to do this again.....
been a while since a update so it is about that time. truck started to give me some over heating problems so i started stocking up on more parts.
New trans oil lines, fan shroud, serp belt, upper rad hose, power steering lines came in today.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...638CBBF9CD.jpg
new HD fan clutch and new 3 row CFS all metal radiator also just came in.
old radiator and clutch beside the new.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ance/006-5.jpg
here is the new radiator with the trans cooler hooked up on it.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...vance/0112.jpg
now its time for the install. first I pulled off the high flow thermostat and drilled 2 holes it it to make it easier to burp the closed loop system and keep air pockets from getting trapped.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...63814D02E5.jpg
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...63846422A2.jpg
got everything bolted on and sitting in there and ran into some serious problems with clearance between the fan clutch and new thicker CFS radiator.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...635F69F833.jpg
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...635C44B682.jpg
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...6358D97423.jpg
so after sitting on the clearance problem for about a week and talking to a few different people, I was told that its very close but it should be enough room as long my motor mounts are solid. Which i just replaced with the iron man 4x4 mounts and they are VERY solid. But I was still rubbing the fan on the fan shroud also because the motor mounts lifted the engine 1/4 inch up.
However I just wanted to be better safe than sorry. so my solution to this was to drill new holes and modify the radiator support bracket to move the whole radiator/fan shroud Assembly back about a inch.
This is how I did it. First cut out the clearance on the bracket in order to push the radiator up under it. then I made the brackets
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...635553EACC.jpg
And here is the radiator support trimmed, painted, and the brackets installed on it.

And here it is running again!
so after all that it still gets kinda warm, so Im going to install the electric fan I have in addition to keeping the stock mechanical. Also Im going to install the datsun louvers soon.
I was worried that the head gasket might be gone after it was still getting a tad bit warm but ran a pressure test and it all checked out good! so as far as it seems im just not getting enough air flow through the grill because the winch, lights, and bumper is restricting it to much.
took the truck for a nice ride on a beautiful day and it did great!!!! snapped a few pictures :)Man, I love this truck!!!!! Even if its not the prettiest thing in the world

Time for a up date. I got these Datsun 280z hood vents and I had never installed them so go figured it was time.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ance/037-2.png
First I made a cardboard template
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...0694382F2D.jpg
The I started cutting and the next thing I knew I had 2 big holes in the hood!!!
I also positioned them so that the left vent opening was not directly over the distributor cap.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...068FBD0C72.jpg
Then I used e6000 epoxy to glue them on. I don't know how well it will hold up but we will see.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...068B6563DF.jpg
Then it was time to dry. ***

So I have been putting off this one for a while. Got some vibrations from the angle of the drive shaft and it is also to short. But the stress on the tail housing of the transfercase finally took its toll anbd blew the seal. So I figured if Im going to fix it Ill fix it the right way the first time.....
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ance/001-2.jpg
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ance/003-2.jpg
So here somes the new stuff..

Now this is not somthing I did by myself. I have never opened up a transfer case and I was told it was just best to get it all professonally installed. SO I ended up getting it installed a J&P transmissions (aka J&K). they did a great job. Havent snapped a picture of it all installed yet though.
Got some new Halo headlights and clear corners as a xmas present. Also painted the old woreout head light bezels.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...e/IMG_2492.jpg

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...psc5e8a4c0.jpg
Awesome job on the louvers! I would suggest KC lights if you are going halogen. Just make sure that you get light locks, I got mine stolen awhile back.
Thanks didnt even think of light locks. I also have been thinking about getting HID's.
Had some blow by in the air filter. The CCV system is all new and I and get it to stop. Apperantly this is a problem with the 4.0's in jeeps. Did a compression test and the rings are good to everything checked out. turns out the problems is the intake flutes in the top of the valve cover sit to low in the head and suck up oil. The solution to this is to trip about 1/2 inch off the flutes. However I just got done pulling the valve cover off and just put a 40 dollar fel-pro gasket on it. So the solutoion for now is a 20 dollar oil catch can. and so far it has worked great.

Update... Blew the rear end out on the turdy5 a little while ago. Cracked the carrier right down the middle, pinion is snapped in half and spider gears are in peices along with a nice dent in the diff cover. Got the 4.10 8.8 sitting in the garage and started cutting brackets off, but im waiting on time and funds to get the new perches, shock mounts, brakes, ect for it. Hopefully it will be done by may but this school load is kicking my ass right now.
